Summer is well and truly on the way, and we are more than ready for some lazy sunny days, BBQs, festivals, and most of all holidays now normal life is resuming! The first thing to highlight about chemical peels is that it is advised to keep out of the sun for four weeks before and two weeks after treatment. So now is the time to get organised and book your peel allowing plenty of time before holidays and summer events.
Chemical peels are a popular, non-surgical treatment that can really transform your skin after just one session and whilst it doesn’t sound like a very appealing treatment, the actual process is a lot less extreme than the name suggests.
We will apply mild acids to your skin which interact with the top layer, causing it to “peel”. This process removes the top layer of dead skin cells, stimulates new cell growth and boosts collagen production. The peeling process deeply exfoliates and hydrates the skin whilst revealing plump, youthful skin beneath.
Alumier believe in progressive and not aggressive treatments and therefore downtime is minimal. You can expect your skin to feel super tight for a couple of days after your peel. Redness, dry skin and sometimes itchiness can be expected too.
Contrary to popular belief you may not even peel despite the name ‘chemical peel’. So do not feel disappointed if you do not shed like a snake! Everyone’s skin will react differently and indeed yours may react differently at every peel as your skin begins to change.
