Dermal fillers are highly effective in reducing the hollow appearance between the upper cheek and eyelids.

At Alisha Louise Aesthetics, we treat the delicate eye area using hyaluronic acid dermal fillers to soften the appearance of dark circles, adding volume and creating a smooth, brighter appearance.

The eye area is a very delicate and sensitive area and requires extreme care during treatment. To achieve the best possible results, it is important to treat the right candidate as this procedure will not be effective for everyone.  A thorough consultation is required to ensure the area is safe to treat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does tear trough filler do?

Tear trough filler is used to fill the “trough” section which is the dip that travels from your tear ducts. It has light reflecting properties that are designed to disguise the darkness by reflecting the light. Unfortunately it doesn’t help with the wrinkles found under the eyes.

Are there any contraindications?

Aside from pregnancy/breastfeeding and autoimmune diseases, unfortunately, yes there can be contraindications. If you are prone to puffy eyes in the morning, this can lead to swelling around the eyes as fluid is retained, making the area look worse. If the skin around your eyes fails a snap test or if there is a lot of excess skin, the skin may not be strong enough to contain the filler. Finally, the hollow appearance of the tear trough may be as a result of the depletion of the midface, resulting in ineffective results under the eye and we may need to consider treating the midface first.

When will I see results and how long do they last?

The results, whilst not permanent, are instant and can last between 9-12 months and maybe longer in certain cases.

What can I expect after my treatment?

Bruising is rare and some swelling is to be expected. You may feel a slight numbing sensation as the lidocaine takes effect. If possible, please come to your appointment with no eye makeup on as we’ll ask you not to touch your eyes afterwards.

Is it painful?

This is generally not painful but can be slightly uncomfortable and can be a rather strange sensation. We use a cannula which minimises the risk of bruising and swelling and is also considerably a less painful technique.

What things should I avoid after having my procedure?

Do not remove your eye make up if you have make up on. Please avoid touching this area for 6-12 hours after injection, this includes affectionate dogs, curious babies and any other foreign objects near the area. You should avoid makeup until the next day. Smoking is not advised in any case, including E-Cigarettes. Avoid any exposure to UV, extreme heat i.e. sauna, steam rooms, sunbeds as this may increase discomfort and swelling. As well as extreme heat, you should also avoid extreme colds, this includes ice packs that are directly applied to the skin. If necessary, you can apply a clean cool compress to the area to reduce any discomfort and swelling. Avoid any dirty packaging from the freezer e.g. bags of peas as this can increase risk of infection. Avoid any facial massages or skin resurfacing e.g. Retinol or AHA products until the area has fully healed fully.
