Dyschromia refers to a discoloration or patches of uneven colour on our skin. We can either have an over or under production of melanin referred to as hyper or hypo pigmentation. Pigmentation comes in different forms.

Melasma is usually hormone / pregnancy related pigmentation although men can have this too. It is usually symmetrical and can have a mask like appearance with undefined edges and can be quite stubborn. Solar Lentigines - also known as age/sun spots is usually a result of over exposure to UV rays and comes with age. They are in a spot shaped appearance and can be found on various places on the body such as face hands, chest and shoulders. Vitiligo is a long-term condition where pale white patches develop on the skin. It is caused by the lack of melanin, which is the pigment in skin. Vitiligo can affect any area of skin, but it commonly happens on the face, neck and hands, and in skin creases. We have a number of treatments that can help tackle pigmentation. Patience is key. Pigmentation didn't happen over night so expect results to be slow and gradual. The most important thing to remember is to protect your skin every single day with a broad spectrum SPF - yes, even if it is raining! 9 months of hard work can be un-done in one day of unprotected sun exposure.
